Fair workplace conditions aren’t just a nice-to-have; they form the very foundations of a
healthy, productive, and equitable working life for all people.
Our union exists to ensure these conditions are not only met but continually improved upon!

Fair conditions mean a healthy and safe workplace, including a work environment free from
hazards and risks to your physical and psychological safety.
All workers are entitled to a workplace where they feel respected, free from harassment, and
have a reasonable workload. When conditions are fair, workers are less stressed, healthier,
and more focused. This leads to fewer injuries and a greater sense of well-being overall.

The Union works tirelessly for better conditions for all medical scientists, psychologists and
hospital pharmacists. This involves advocating for:

Fair Wages: Ensuring wages keep pace with the cost of living and reflect the skill and
dedication of our members. The Union has proudly contributed to a historic review of the
Health Professionals and Support Services Award at the Fair Work Commission, with a
preliminary decision indicating agreement and acknowledgement of the long-standing
undervaluation of your work, at least in part due to our highly feminised professions.

Reasonable Hours:  improving on workload provisions, rostering principles, and
guaranteeing appropriate rest periods between shifts.

Comprehensive Benefits: improvements to more equitable parental leave, professional
development leave, higher qualifications allowances to name just a few!

When members are paid fairly and have stable working hours, they can better support their
families and contribute positively to their communities.
Every worker deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. Fair conditions ensure that
Union members are protected by clear, transparent, and consistently applied processes.

This protection is crucial in matters like:

Disciplinary Action: Ensuring due process and preventing unfair dismissals.

Equal Opportunity: Fighting against discrimination based on gender, race, age, or any other
characteristic.

Voice at Work: Guaranteeing members have a meaningful say in decisions that affect their
jobs, ensuring consultation and through collective bargaining

Fairness gives our members confidence, knowing their rights are protected and their
contributions are valued.

Ultimately, fair workplace conditions benefit everyone. Employees who feel valued, safe, and
secure are more engaged and productive. That’s why the union will continue to fight
tirelessly to secure, maintain, and advance fair workplace conditions, because our members
deserve nothing less.
