Today we celebrate Medicare’s 32nd birthday.
For 32 years Medicare has ensure that all Australians have access to quality healthcare regardless of income or background.
But now the Liberals want to make people pay for life-saving medical tests by cutting $650 million from Medicare rebates. Patients will be forced to pay for essential pathology and diagnostic imaging tests that are now free.
These proposed changes could mean additional up-front costs for pap smears, x-rays, MRI scans and blood tests.
These tests save lives and these cuts will hit the sickest the hardest.
Tell the Turnbull Government to stop its co-payments for pathology and diagnostic imaging testing. Join us on Feb 20 – 12pm at the State Library to stand up and fight back against healthcare austerity.
