Public Sector EBA & Cancer Crisis Update

Paid Members’ Meeting Friday 14 December 2012 Trades Hall

Ongoing discussions in FWA with the Department of Health and the VHIA have resulted in an ‘in principle’ agreement having been reached on all outstanding issues re the public sector EBA – at last! This includes salaries and conditions.

We understand that the complete Agreement is subject to final Government approval, BUT that it will not be going to Cabinet until next week.

A meeting of members has been scheduled to report on the basis of settlement after it has gone to Cabinet. The meeting details are:

Friday 14 December 2012, 12.30pm
New Council Chambers
Trades Hall
Corner Lygon and Victoria Streets Carlton South

Members will receive a full report, with the Basis of Settlement to be considered on the day. Details will be made available on the member-only pages of the website afterwards, for members who were not able to attend the meeting.

We understand the level of frustration among members about the process – and the extraordinary amount of time it has taken to reach a deal that the Union can recommend. Friday’s meeting will give members the opportunity to consider whether or not to accept the final package.

Once the drafting of the Enterprise Agreement is finalised, it will be circulated by the public sector employers, and a formal ballot will be conducted. If there is a majority “YES” vote in this ballot to accept the Agreement, it will be sent to FWA to for approval prior to coming into operation. At this rate it will be well into the New Year before any salary increases will be paid.

THE MEETING ON FRIDAY WILL BE A PAID MEETING.

Please contact Jimmy at our offices if you & your colleagues need assistance with transport. We will be providing a bus from the Dandenong and Clayton campuses of Southern Health to Trades Hall.
